2021 The Wanderer
Big Bad Wolf is 100% zinfandel from Heaton, Rancho Voladores, and Derby vineyards on the west side of Paso Robles. The zinfandel planted at Heaton is primarily on limestone soil, while at Ranch Voladores it is on siliceous shale, and Derby Vineyards has a heavy loam soil profile. This combination makes for a very powerful and structured wine with great aging potential. Brambly fruit notes of huckleberry and blackberry are followed by savory aromatics of fresh turned earth and forest floor. A hint of French oak adds spice notes to a wine that will age gracefully for 8-10 years. (15.0% alc.)
